Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetangula, visited Nzoia Sugar Company to evaluate its progress and thank the farmers and staff for their patience while waiting for the government to settle their dues.

The Speaker reported that the government has fulfilled its promise, and he thanked President William Ruto for honoring his word.

"When we assumed leadership, the company was grappling with severe debts, mismanagement, and widespread uncertainty," he said.

In less than two years, the government has successfully established a Board of Directors led by Alfred Khang'ati. The board has been instrumental in providing strategic direction for the company.

Additionally, the government has managed to waive a Sh54 billion debt owed by the company, thereby restoring its financial health.

Kanduyi MP, Wakili John Makali, also encouraged farmers to continue cultivating sugarcane as he works diligently to permanently resolve the recurring mechanical issues at the company.
