Joseph Irungu alias Jowie has been found guilty for the murder of business woman Monica Nyawira Kimani that took place on the 19th of September 2018.

"Having considered the evidence in this matter, it is the finding of this court that the first accused person( Joseph Irungu) murdered the deceased and therefore found guilty of the offense," ruled Justice Grace Nzioka.

The judgment which had been adjourned twice saw the verdict made today at Milimani Law Court in Nairobi.

According to Judge Nzioka , all the evidence brought before the court pointed out that Jowie committed the offense.

"The first accused person (Joseph Irungu) stole the Identity Card belonging to Dominic Bisera two days before the murder which he used to access the deceased apartment," she added.

Judge Nzioka said that the first accused person changed the clothes he used in committing the murder and burnt them and later put on a kanzu.

On the other hand, the second accused person former Citizen Tv Journalist Jackie Maribe was acquitted of the murder.

"It's my considered view that the charge brought against the second accused person was not a proper charge and therefore she is acquitted of the charge," said judge Nzioka.

Maribe was instead found guilty of lying to a Public Officer but she could not be convicted since the charge made against her was the murder charge.

Speaking outside the court, the Maribe's family expressed their gratitude and thanked God for saving their daughter when they said she was wrongly accused

Mr Jowie 's bond was removed and taken to remand as he awaits for his sentence on 8th March 2024.
