A section of ODM members from Kakamega County Assembly has welcomed the appointment of Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, along with two other deputy party leaders, to fill the vacant positions left by the recent cabinet appointments of Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, and John Mbadi.

Addressing members of the press in Kakamega Town, the group commended ODM Party leader Raila Odinga for considering Godfrey Osotsi, highlighting his loyalty to the party and his ability to perform in his new role.

The delegation, led by David Owino, the ODM chairman for Lurambi Constituency, expressed their gratitude to Raila for selecting leaders from the Western region to fill the vacant positions.

"We are grateful that Raila Odinga has chosen a candidate from Western Kenya for the deputy ODM party leader position. Godfrey Osotsi has been very loyal to the party, and we fully support his appointment with confidence that he will deliver for the party," said Owino.

These sentiments were echoed by Fabian Shiveka, the ODM Party's secretary general in Lurambi, who issued a stern warning to party members who display disloyalty.

Vincent Omumia, the ODM youth representative in Kakamega County, also praised Raila's choice of candidates for the vacant positions. He urged the party leader to consider youth representation in the nomination of a member of Parliament to replace John Mbadi, who was recently appointed as the Cabinet Secretary for Finance.

Roseline Akoi, who represents persons with disabilities in the Kakamega County Assembly, attended the event as well. She encouraged Raila Odinga to ensure that people with disabilities are considered for government positions and have the freedom to perform their party duties.

"As a representative for people living with disabilities, I am confident that with our party leader in government, people with disabilities will be appointed to government positions and will have the freedom to carry out party duties," she stated.

Additionally, Isukha Central MCA Dan Omukofu commended Raila Odinga for considering women for the vacant ODM positions.

"Gladys Wanga is a performing governor; we have all witnessed how she has been at the forefront of fighting for our party. We are confident in her efforts to ensure the party’s activities run smoothly following her recent appointment as the party chairperson," Omukofu noted.

Silvia Mutesh, a nominated member of the County Assembly, urged all ODM members to support the candidates nominated to fill the vacant party positions, arguing that these roles are assigned based on a candidate’s loyalty to the party.

The three leaders—Abdulswamad Nassir, Simba Arati, and Godfrey Osotsi—were selected by the party's central committee during a meeting held on Friday.
