Fourteen-Year-Old Girl Defiled by Grandfather

A family from Emwibhichiri in Lurambi constituency of Kakamega County is demanding justice for their 14-year-old daughter who was defiled and impregnated by her grandfather.

According to Anna Esobonya, the victim's aunt, the accused used money and Mandazi to lure the victim before committing the heinous act.

"Ernest Andala lured the girl by giving her money and Mandazi in order to deceive her into falling into his trap, which is incredibly shameful and unfortunate considering he is her grandfather," she said.

She further explains that the victim lived with her grandfather because her mother had left home due to family conflicts, which forced her to leave her daughter in her parents' care.

Joseph Ambunya, the victim's father, explained that their poor background has left them unable to pay the 17,000 shillings required for her discharge from Mukumu Mission Hospital after treatment.

"My daughter has undergone an operation at Mukumu hospital, and the hospital owes me a large sum of money that I can't afford due to my poor background," he said.

The victim's family is now seeking assistance from the office of the women representative of Kakamega County, Elsie Muhanda, and other leaders for financial support in clearing the hospital bill, as well as her school fees.

"I am calling upon leaders, especially Kakamega Women Representative Elsie Muhanda, to assist my daughter in paying the hospital bill and school fees once she is back to good health and able to return to school, as I cannot afford the expenses," Joseph Ambunya said.

Makoni Asonja, a neighbor who witnessed the incident, has advised parents to be vigilant when sending their children to live with relatives.

"Parents should ensure they are fully aware of everything happening to their children, especially when they are sent to live with relatives, to prevent such issues from occurring in the future," he said.

Additionally, he has called on relevant offices, including children's rights advocates and the government, to take strict legal action against the suspect.
