Seven female students were apprehended for creating sexually explicit content in an apartment located in the Mwiyala area of Mahiakalo ward in Kakamega County.

The suspects, believed to be university and college students, were arrested at 8 pm when the detectives raided the apartment.

In one of the rooms, various equipment including Laptops, cameras, vibrators and other electronic devices used to produce the explicit content were discovered in one of the rooms.

According to Kakamega County Commander Joseph Kigen, who confirmed the arrests, an ongoing investigation is underway to identify other individuals associated with the incident.

"The suspects were apprehended by DCI officers following a comprehensive inquiry into the incident, which is believed to have involved numerous individuals," stated Kigen.

Among those taken into custody is a Ugandan citizen and several young women suspected to be university students.

"The items found at the scene have been sent for forensic testing, while our detectives continue to diligently investigate," he added.

Local residents have strongly condemned the act, describing it as a manifestation of greed for easy money. They further revealed that the young women were leading a lavish lifestyle due to their involvement in this "job," primarily receiving money from individuals believed to be residing abroad, where this illicit business appears to be widespread.

"I was shocked when I learned about the arrests. These young women have been regular customers at my eatery, and I never imagined they could be engaged in such activities to sustain such a lifestyle," expressed one resident.
